To begin with, the story revolves around detective Sebastian Castellanos once more, but this time it would appear that there’s some hope for him. There’s a clear evolution in the graphics department as well, but don’t expect some kind of revolution either. Hence, the survival elements are more nuanced and varied this time around, unlike the rather crude and often irrelevant ones found in the first episode.

The Evil Within 2 is a sequel in every sense of the word, which means that the story is continued from where it was left off and the gameplay mechanics have been expanded while keeping the original ones in mind. Granted, the story itself was not the kind you would remember for years to come, but that can be excused in these particular circumstances.

It was also a triple-A production with state-of-the-art graphics, animations and sound effects, which helped a lot with the overall atmosphere.

The first episode of The Evil Within series was well-received by survival-horror fans, mainly because it got the horror part pretty well.
